Old friends

This was a recent photo taken on 1/11/2008. After 24 years, we finally met an old friend, Freda Godeng (she's sitting opposite me) partly hidden behind her, Bonnie and at the far end, is Bonnie's daughter. Sitting next to me is Biak. The four of us went to the same school, St. Columba's Miri. The three of us, myself, Biak and Freda stayed in the same camp, Police Field Force, Riam Camp, Miri. Semua anak polis hutan tok bah....our families knew each other and naturally we grew up together. Looking back then, our lives were full of activities and we were practically free to venture out, under strict observation of course. Come to think of it during those days there were no fear of kids being kidnapped whatsoever. There were many, many times when some of us chosed to walk back home instead of using the police truck provided by the camp's authorities. Riam Camp was situated on top of Bukit Riam and my school was somewhere at the foot hill of Bukit Riam. There were 2 roads that leads back to the camp and the good one was the road going up to RTM, Miri. RTM is situated at the back of our camp. The second road that we love to use so much is the bushy trails that leads right up to the camp. Why we love to us that particular trails, we get to pick some nice flowers and some "wild fruits"that we simply eat along the way. Those were the days indeed. Ok, back to Freda, she was not a close friend of mine then, but we shared some stories together and(This was the day when my fever was at its maximum) Ok, back to the so-called mini reunion thing. Meeting her again after all these years was like a trip down memory lane. Freda was considered very popular during school days, having just transferred from Temudok Camp, Serian. She joined us in Form 1. Not only that we had a group of new friends who joined us at Form 1. Those days, the system was such that anyone from the Chinese school would join a transition class and upon completing their transition class, they would be sent to the selected missionary schools then. In Miri, the missionary schools then was St. Joseph and St.Columba's.

A dear friend, Jijot. She came down to Kuching last fasting month to renew her maid's work permit. She stayed overnight in Kuching before going back to Miri to celebrate raya. Brought her to Satok for some raya shopping. We were in the same class taking secretarial course in ITMCS. Used to work and now a homemaker with 3 lovely kids and residing in PD, Negeri Sembilan. Hubby with Shell Malaysia. We last saw each other a couple of years ago at BB Plaza, KL. We shared a lot of things back in our ITM days, loads of it actually....hehehehehhee...really miss the good old days. Who doesn't huh?...
