Image
This was the one photo of my class which I have been looking for all this while especially with the big reunion we're going to have in June 2009. Finally, after much deliberation, discussion here and there our reunion will be held on 27th June 2009, Eastwood Valley, Miri. (insyallah) Hopefully everything goes as planned.

Geram

Aku geram dari tengahari tadik. Kenak aku geram?...Firstly this morning I received a call from a friend who ordered 3 chocolate cheesecakes to be given to her Chinese staff and one for herself. Anyway, aku bukan geram dengannya setegal last minit order. Yang aku paling geram dengan perangai supermarket2 di Kuching tok, sik kiralah, Everise kah, Choice mall or any supermarket. Lately aku perasan especially since last year, daknya have the tendency to cut down on the cream cheese supplies around . Makin dekat hari nak raya, sik kira la raya cina kah, krismas kah, raya posa, mun sik philly cheese sik dijual, anchor cheese sik dijual. Aku ingat agik last raya, aku banyak nerimak tempahan cheesecake...sia2 jak aku berkepung meli cream cheese yg offer rega murah. The lowest last year yg aku sempat nemu was at Everise Supermarket rah BDC..that was $38.90 for a pack of 2kg. Sempat juak ku borong 8 kotak. The following weekend aku pegi agik hoping that cream cheese philly ada, sekali nan

Happy Chinese New Year

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all my Chinese friends especially my ex-colleagues at Maybank, Kuching and my Chinese cousins back in Balingian, Mukah and Miri. I missed the round of visits I used to make with the other colleagues back then. Hopefully can do some visiting this year.

Old habits die hard

I came up on an article from the STAR dated 21/01/09, titled Cut out the old habit by Lynne McGready . I found it to be very interesting and wants to share it here. The most interesting is the constant use of "Thank you", "Attn" or "Attention", Consistency & "Ref" 1) "Thank you" I respect the words "thank you" and use them regularly to thank anyone who has helped me or if I want to recognise the effort people have made. They are important words! But can someone please tell me why people need to end EVERY e-mail or letter to me with a "Thank you" at the end of the message? What am I being thanked for? Are you thanking me for reading your message? Are you thanking me for writing to you? Or are you just using it because everyone you work with does this? Is it just a habit? In my opinon, we are now using "thank you" so carelessly that it no longer carries the same impact or meaning that once did. Please be

My ramblings

Nothing much to ramble actually. Just that I'm trying to recall a few things that has happened around me. I am so lazy to talk about the happenings around the world...why?...I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of everything and just couldn't come up with words to describe my exact feeling. I've been surfing and reading the other blogger's blog and almost all were talking about the flood in Kuching (the worst since 2004), the war at Gaza and of course Obama the new US President. I appreciate all the relevant infos plus pictures..better than reading the newspaper...especially regarding the flood in Kuching. I just couldn't be bothered about everything not that I don't care nor symphatise but I experience none of that. I am fortunate that so far (touch wood..kata orang..) my housing area are not affected by any kind of flood yet. (to be continued....)

Bahasa Melano Balingian

My trip to Miri not only gave me the opportunity to reunite with old friends that I missed dearly but I also took the golden opportunity to learn more about my dad's language. My dad is a Melanau from Kpg Suyong, Balingian. Their melanau dialect differs from the rest of the Melanau dialects from Mukah, Oya, Rejang, Dalat, Matu, Igan & Bintulu. Sad to say that this particular dialect is slowly disappearing. Even my aunt Regina or fondly known as Usu Ina who is married to a melanau from Bintulu is at loss with her own Balingian dialect at times. So far, I've noticed that only my dad, my first cousins Lai & Kak Senah are still speaking this beautiful dialect fluently. Usu Ina converse mostly in the Mukah dialect and I observed that she would refer to Lai if she was not sure of the language itself. My dad and his siblings back in Balingian still converse in their own dialect but once they are out of their kampung, they would converse in the Mukah dialect again. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Miri Trip 30/12/2008 - 4/1/2009

Location: Dave's Deli, Miri 31/12/2008 Who's who: Freda & me With Salia. (we sure are proud to be columbians..hehehehe...these were the only two pictures taken using Freda's motorola handphone after our discussion for a big reunion in June 2009) Tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!....my new look for my blog this year. Can't really tell how long this one would last but then again, we'll see right?...After all, this blog is mine to do as I pleases. (laughing away painfully...having a tummy ache at the moment...). I did not manage to update since the end of December last year. Busy?..none of that actually, I was somehow loss for words to describe almost anything then. Then I was in Miri from 30/12/2008 till 4/1/2009. I don't feel like coming back to Kuching by the end of it. Miri has always been and will always be my home though I'm based in Kuching now, like they say, home is where the heart is. I was there to arrange for a major reunion of my former classmates &
