Batik Perdani aka Kek Batik Arora

Lazing around with nothing to do last weekend prompted me to bake this simple cake. As the other food bloggers has baked this wonderful looking cake, I said to myself, why not?.. I just need to get that baking itch out anyway. At times I find it hard to decide to choose what to bake. Of course it depends very much on what is available in the pantry. Which reminds me of Nigella's pantry...berangan la nak dapatkan pantry like that huh?..

Well, you never knowkan, just becareful what you wish for sometimes as it may come true ***grinning***

My disastrous layering, at times I have a knack of trying to be sooo smart  hence the outcome of the so-called smartness.  Oh well, next time just go by the book huh..Dunno la what was in my mind when I started to do the layering.   

The cake was still quite hot and due to my impatience this is it..Taste wise was nice and not too sweet, mum loves it and I added 1/4 cup of almond meal(which  was due to expire in a months' time) so I might as well get rid of it before it ends in Mr. Bin.

So this is my version Kek Batik Arora but my mom called it Kek Perdani(means carpet in local Sarawak dialect). When I look at my cake, I cringe, obviously theirs look much more attractive and vibrant than my choice of colours.  Whatever la kan, I've tried it and it was a success indeed.  So who cares about the outcome, it was gone sekali duduk kata orang Sarawak.

aie ktk kah time ya? kelisa merah nakkk.. mek prasan kelisa ada p mek xnampak ilak sapa dalam ya haha.. duhal ktk..tp boh tak eran rupa mek mcm sombong nak actually mek mun jalan xngga org ilak.. mata mek kabor, mun org tegor bok mek prasan hehe..

Dear Eva...:-)...ukan kelisa mirah, kelisa silver...yalah, saw you at first glance cam sombong jak tp since kamek dah follow blog kitak, rupa jak sombong p sik nak..hehe..kedak kamek juak..first impression org madah sombong n nampak garang...ececeh..angkat bakul aiee...hehe..
kamek bake suka2 jak Eva...nak bizness lambat tp kamek seasonal bisness jak..time raya jak berjual biskut...

Bahasa Melano Balingian

My trip to Miri not only gave me the opportunity to reunite with old friends that I missed dearly but I also took the golden opportunity to learn more about my dad's language. My dad is a Melanau from Kpg Suyong, Balingian. Their melanau dialect differs from the rest of the Melanau dialects from Mukah, Oya, Rejang, Dalat, Matu, Igan & Bintulu. Sad to say that this particular dialect is slowly disappearing. Even my aunt Regina or fondly known as Usu Ina who is married to a melanau from Bintulu is at loss with her own Balingian dialect at times. So far, I've noticed that only my dad, my first cousins Lai & Kak Senah are still speaking this beautiful dialect fluently. Usu Ina converse mostly in the Mukah dialect and I observed that she would refer to Lai if she was not sure of the language itself. My dad and his siblings back in Balingian still converse in their own dialect but once they are out of their kampung, they would converse in the Mukah dialect again. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

oooo En Haris......Izzah............Ombak Rindu

Finally, I get to watch Ombak Rindu (OR) with friends last night. So here goes my review on the movie. 1) The scenery is simply fantastic and I just can’t help admiring the beautiful sceneries. It was indeed a sight to behold. So a beach-lover like me definitely enjoys and love all the beautiful sceneries. 2) Loved Hariz’s kampong house…byk modern facilities tapi nang kacaklah rumah ya.. 3) Dari mula sampei abis filem ya, the kitten doesn’t seem to grow up....go figure that out!!!…. 4) As expected some of my favourite scene in the novel was scrapped off especially bab Hariz n Izzah, there are quite a few intimate scenes (those who’ve read the novel knows, yang belum baca, sila beli dan baca k);I guess writer/director chose not to put those in the movies for sensitivity reasons and I think AA would want to think twice before acting certain scenes especially some intimate scenes with MK. 5) The OST was simply superb and the duet song by Hafiz AF7 and Adira AF8 complemented

It's been a while since my last posting.   Year in year out, I think I have such a boring life.  Initially, when I started this blog, I wanted to be a food blogger and sharing my passion for cooking and baking.  Before the existence of FB, blogging was the thing then.  I thought of trying to be one and yes, the first few years of blogging I was actively blogging, practically about everything.
