Coconut Cake

I love BW and most of the times its in search of new recipes, new ideas and inspirations.  I love this particular blog (of course, I have loads and loads of other favourite blogs too) I find her blog to be a very inspirational and at times I find myself at peace reading her postings.  Alright then, am not going to bore with details.  Just check it out Mamatiamia and I found this simple coconut cake recipe and had made it thrice eversince as mum loves the cake so much.




This is a superdelish and easy-peasy recipe and you can just whip this up in 15 minutes only.  Just ignore the amateurish look of the photo ya.

I love Congo Bars @ Blondies than Brownies actually though I baked more Brownies than Congo Bars.  I must admit, I have only tried around 2 - 3 Cong Bars recipes and I have decided to stick to the one from  http://kitchenguardian.blogspot.com/2015/02/being-true-to-yourself-lets-bake-congo.html   This recipe is a keeper and never failed to get repeat orders from my customers. So I baked this Congo Bars last week,  a bit overbaked though but still delicious. I just dumped all the left-overs from Raya Haji baking to come up with this Nutty Chocolatey Congo Bars. Yumm!!!

Bahasa Melano Balingian

My trip to Miri not only gave me the opportunity to reunite with old friends that I missed dearly but I also took the golden opportunity to learn more about my dad's language. My dad is a Melanau from Kpg Suyong, Balingian. Their melanau dialect differs from the rest of the Melanau dialects from Mukah, Oya, Rejang, Dalat, Matu, Igan & Bintulu. Sad to say that this particular dialect is slowly disappearing. Even my aunt Regina or fondly known as Usu Ina who is married to a melanau from Bintulu is at loss with her own Balingian dialect at times. So far, I've noticed that only my dad, my first cousins Lai & Kak Senah are still speaking this beautiful dialect fluently. Usu Ina converse mostly in the Mukah dialect and I observed that she would refer to Lai if she was not sure of the language itself. My dad and his siblings back in Balingian still converse in their own dialect but once they are out of their kampung, they would converse in the Mukah dialect again. Mmmmmmmmmmm....
